GACC NOMINATING COMMITTEE

TASK: TO PRESENT A SLATE OF CANDIDATES

FOR 2026 GACC OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS

AT THE OCTOBER 1st GACC MEETING

AND A FINAL SLATE AT THE NOVEMBER 5th MEETING FOR A VOTE

The GACC Nominating Committee works to find volunteers willing to serve as Avenues Council Board Members and Officers for each annual elected period.  We are currently seeking nominees for the 2026 calendar year.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to serve on the Board of the GACC? It’s so much more than just planning our monthly community meetings–although we do that too.

Serving on the GACC Board is a volunteer position where you can help plan the GACC’s efforts to improve the quality of life for all Avenues residents. This happens by you attending board meetings or perhaps by serving as a committee chair on efforts we make as a council that align with your interests – such as the Service Committee or Civic Engagement Committee.

Also it happens as our board members and committees help plan and organize events to educate and bring the community together, such as our Memory Grove Cleanup or our annual Avenues Street Fair, our Emergency Preparedness events, our Community Garden, and our Avenues Community Improvements Grants program.

In addition to board member positions, the 2026 GACC Officer positions that are up for election include:

Chair-Elect, Treasurer, and Secretary.

See more about the GACC Board of Directors HERE.

At our October 1 Community Meeting, the tentative slate of candidates for officers and board members for 2026 will be announced.

Any additional interested individuals may also nominate themselves or others at that time if they are present at the meeting.

Elections on the final slate of candidates will occur at our November 5 Community Meeting.

Email Nominating Committee Chair Joseph “Jurphy” Murphy, gaccpastchair@slc-avenues.org, with any questions, or to submit yourself or someone else as a nominee.

ADVERTISE WITH US

The GACC newsletter, The Agenda, is mailed monthly to all of the approximately 9,000 residences and businesses within the Avenues boundaries, including the north side of South Temple, everything connecting to and east of Canyon Road leading to Memory Grove, all of Federal Heights, all of Arlington Hills, Northcrest and residences at the University of Utah. See our boundary map HERE.

In addition to the printed newsletter sent via snail mail, we also publish an online version of our newsletter in full color with live url links and expanded articles.

Our latest online newsletter is HERE.

The purpose of our newsletter is to inform Avenues residents and businesses about our monthly community meetings and to provide information about community issues and the activities of the Greater Avenues Community Council.

Our newsletter committee gathers the content for each issue as approved monthly by the GACC Board of Directors. The committee compiles and lays out our newsletter each month using InDesign. We then package the newsletter by the 20th of each month and send it to our printer Sun Lithograph. Sun prints the newsletter and delivers it to the US Postal Service Bulk mail office for mailing.

We reserve the right to edit all content, articles and advertisements for content, appearance, and size.

All ads in our newsletter print in grayscale (black and white). All ads in our online newsletter appear in full color with live url links.

Ad Sizes & Rates
The Agenda features several options for ad sizing. Ads can run month-to-month, or on an annual contract. The annual commitment is the equivalent of one month free, and is an 11% discount over the month-to-month rate.

All ads must be prepaid.

See our current 2025 Ad Rate and Size Chart HERE
